Our Process
It is essential to use the proper printing process for the project. Doing so will deliver clarity, sharpness, and detail to the message you're trying to convey. Each method produces different results, and each has its rightful place. Our fascination with technique allows us to guide you to beautiful outcomes!
Here is a sampling of some of the more common processes used in printing today.
Offset Printing
Offset printing is a common form where the inked image is transferred from a plate to a rubber blanket and then to the printing surface through a cylinder. Offset printing was started in 1875.
Digital Printing
Digital printing is an economical way to print a small volume of brochures, flyers and other small jobs. We can run four color jobs at a low cost with digital printers.
Web Press Printing
Web press printing is for long-run, large-volume printing. We typically use web printing for catalogs and books.
Variable Image Printing
Variable imaging lets us put personalized information such as names, addresses, or birth dates on letters and forms. We use variable imaging for many direct mail jobs.
Embossing
Embossing is creating a raised image with or without the use of ink. We use embossing on business cards, journals, leather, vinyl, and other substrates. The paper stock is pressed between the heated die and the counter and the image is pressed into the back of the stock to create a raised image. Blind embossing is when we create the image without ink or foil.
Flexography
Flexography is a type of printing process that uses a flexible relief plate. This type of printing is mainly used for non-porous materials like food service paper, plastic, foil, brown paper, and packaging materials.
Embroidery
Embroidery is used to sew custom logos onto garments. We embroider shirts, hats, jackets, pants, duffel bags, and backpacks.
Engraving
In engraving, the design is cut into metal with a graver or burin. We engrave on metal, pens, and a variety of substrates.
Heat Transfer
Heat transfer is applying heat-applied materials to various items (i.e., substrates) with a heat press. It is often used for smaller runs of t-shirts or multiple color jobs.
Bindery
Bindery is used in catalogs and books. There are various types of bindery, including saddle stitching, coil binding, perfect binding, Wire-O and three hole drilled. The process depends on the book's thickness and how it will be used.
